Olympic hockey qualifiers: Irish fans’ heartache and Canada rejoices

Social media was awash with comment as the fall out from Ireland’s defeat to Canada continued into Monday  Here is a round-up as Canada secured a place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

The FIH responded on Monday to Irish media requests on the incident which has got everyone talking, the video umpire decision to award Canada a final second penalty stroke.

“Umpires’ decisions are final and, as a general principle, FIH does not comment publicly on individual umpiring decisions.”
