Dutch Hoofdklasse: Pinoke end Bloemendaal hat-trick hopes

Pinoké men became Dutch domestic hockey champions for the first time in the club’s 93-year history on Monday.

In the second match of their Hoofdklasse play-off finale, Pinoke beat Bloemendaal 4-0.

Playing in front of boisterous home support at a sun-drenched Bloemendaal, Pinoke ended hopes of a third successive title for the oranje-clad team as they atoned for last year’s defeat.

After a 1-1 draw at Pinoke against the 22-time national champions on Sarturday, Marlon Landbrug tipped in to give the hosts the early advantage.

As the game wore on, Bloemendaal pressed high which allowed Pinoke space for counters. Soon enough, Alexander Hendrickx scored from a PC before Landbrug tapped in for their third. Morris de Vilder added a fourth with Bloemendaal all at sea.

Earlier, Amsterdam women became domestic champions for the 21st time.

They beat SCHC in a shoot-out as Anne Veenendaal proved the Amsterdam hero with two saves.
