Back to the future for hockey’s penalty corner

While we wait for the FIH to suggest alternatives for the current outdoor hockey PC, discussions between traditionalists and those who want a material alternative to the PC continue, writes Peter D’Cruz.

These conversations should understand how and why the use of the drag flick skill became the de facto way to conduct the PC at every level of hockey worldwide.

Those who have only been playing hockey since the second half of the 1990s can be excused for believing that the drag flick has been used since hockey was played on artificial turf since the mid-1970s.
