Masters Hockey: ‘Sri Lanka players ideal ambassadors to promote our island’

As Masters hockey grows, so are nations who see the World Cups as the perfect fit for players to be ambassadors and showcase their country.

Take Sri Lanka, whose over-35s and over-40s men’s and women’s teams are competing at the Nottingham World Cup, having travelled to the UK thanks to the sponsorship of Sri Lanka Tourism, Sri Lanka Airlines and a leading paint outfit.

While the Masters’ scene, established a decade ago, continues an upward trajectory (despite coming up against tough opposition in Nottingham), Sri Lanka officials see hockey as the perfect vehicle to promote the beautiful island, while hosting a future World Cup has also been mooted.
