Commonwealth Games Hockey: Cannock duo gave me attacking instinct, says Bandurak

Birmingham — For many a season, Nick Bandurak had long been touted as a player capable of making it on the international stage. The goals kept on coming, but he kept on being overlooked. Until this February, that is, when he finally made his England debut and has since notched 10 goals in 14 starts.

Bandurak cast his mind back nearly 15 years on Tuesday as he recalled how he had learnt the art of attacking, getting in front of defenders and finishing through watching the likes of Cannock duo Dave Harris and Gareth Andrew. It’s not all about penalty corner power with Bandurak, as his two goals against India proved.

Bandurak, 28, has been a consistent performer for Holcombe HC in the Men’s Premier Division over the last few seasons.
