Old Sheffield hockey photo yields anecdote from yesteryear

A reader of the Sheffield Star wrote in recently to compliment the above photo taken of the Jessop Saville women’s team

A Mr Hines wrote to the paper in the hope that the image was taken at the club’s Ecclesfield Sports Ground.

His father, George Hines, was once a groundsman there in the 60s. During his helm, it was also known as “Dad’s ground” as he relayed one anecdote.
