‘Great Britain hockey funding needs to be invested in clubs’

As England lost their chance for a medal, there was plenty of talk in the EuroHockey press centre from interested European media on England and their near-neighbour ‘rivals’.

Most knew that England were full-time players, but the complexities of turning into a GB side for the Olympics was a different proposition.

However, with England men falling into the placings Pool, questions were posed on the central programme and whether it was a viable system for success, with GB hockey in mind.

“There could be a lot more offered considering it’s a full-time programme,” admitted Derek Forsyth, Scotland’s coach.
