Dad sawed off sticks to kickstart our hockey careers, says Wales’ James Carson

His design-focused dad used to give his offspring custom-made sticks when they first learnt the game, now Wales star James Carson is looking to fire Wales to Commonwealth Games glory, writes George Wilson. 

The Dragons failed to win a game at Gold Coast 2018 but came close to defeating England and India who they face this year as Carson, part of a family of hockey-playing brothers, seeks revenge. 

Since 2018 the side has shot up the rankings, competed in two European championships and qualified for the World Cup next January.
