Geelong’s Stead Park has been confirmed as the home of hockey for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Corio venue will be upgraded with two international-standard hockey pitches and will be able to cater to a crowd of up to 15,000, with a mix of temporary and permanent seating.

Geelong will also host eight other Commonwealth sports – aquatics, para swimming, beach volleyball, gymnastics, table tennis, para table tennis, triathlon and para triathlon.

They will be staged at four hubs, with the Victoria event set to be the first regional Commonwealth Games. It will run from March 17-29 2026, with events also being staged in Melbourne, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland.

Minister for Commonwealth Games Delivery and Acting Premier, Jacinta Allan, said: “Geelong is a proud sporting city, and the Commonwealth Games will deliver great benefit to the entire community through improved infrastructure and exposure on the world stage.

“Victoria 2026 will provide a boost to jobs, hospitality and the local economy and allows use to share our incredible regional communities with the rest of the world.”
