Amsterdam — The palmarès may say otherwise, but belief is surging through the Belgium team ahead of their Women’s World Cup quarter-final date with neighbours Netherlands.
First, the statistics. Belgium have never beaten the world No 1 side in a major tournament. The Oranje have won 12 of their last 13 meetings as just under three goals per game. The Red Panthers, who are set for the first World Cup last eight match, last win came in 2017 and their record since suggests that the Dutch will gallop into the semi-final.
“We will be ready on Tuesday and if we believe, anything can happen,” says Stephanie vanden Borre, the tournament’s co-top scorer with six from four games.
