4G Pitches

What have England hockey got against 4G pitches?
Why can’t hockey play on them for league matches and friendlies?
Afterall we use to play on grass.

If the rate of pitch loss to 4G and FA sponsorship / donations continues hockey will be no more in 10 years time when whats left of state school pitches are 4G and paid for by FA donations.
