Interested in maritime safety and am exploring roles like Designated Person Ashore within Singapore’s maritime sector. I’d like to know what qualifications and experience are needed, and how to get started.

To pursue this career, you’ll need a strong background in maritime safety and knowledge of the ISM Code. Typically, DPAs have qualifications in marine engineering, nautical science, or maritime safety, and relevant experience either on board or in shore-based safety roles, within Designated person ashore and seeking mentorship from experienced DPAs can also be valuable.
