I recently bought a programmable token with NFC and faced the question: how to set it up correctly for two-factor authentication? I tried to connect it to my phone, and everything seemed to work, but then I couldn’t sync it with the app. It seems that I just didn’t understand the settings. Does anyone use such tokens? How to link them correctly so that there are no problems with subsequent use?

I had a similar experience when I first set up an NFC token. At first, there were also problems with synchronization, but then I realized that I needed to manually enter the secret key into the app. If you want to try something easier to set up and more reliable, I can recommend hardware totp token, which supports autonomous operation and NFC. Personally, I have not had any problems with it – everything connects in a couple of minutes.

Interesting topic! Personally, I only use two-factor authentication via phone apps for now. But it seems that tokens via NFC may be more convenient for those who often change devices or work with sensitive data. I wonder how much safer such devices are in real life
