Asafoetida powder, also known as Ferula assa-foetida in Latin, is a perennial plant with hollow stems and yellow blooms that do not resemble breeches. These organic plants have stems that may grow up to 10 feet in height. However, be advised that the undercooked smell is not nice. Maybe this is the reason asafoetida was dubbed “devil’s dung” in popular use. However, some civilizations have referred to it as the food of the gods because when cooked, it takes on the taste of onions or garlic.

Asafoetida stems and roots release a sap that, when dried, forms a gum that is then processed into a powdered form of these premium bulk herbs. This herb may be used for cooking as well as aiding with digestion.
