East Grinstead women became the first English club to win a EuroHockey Club Cup medal since 1999 after a stellar weekend in Poland.
The West Sussex side beat German outfit Mannheimer 6-2 to claim bronze.
Biba Mills, who finished with 13 goals for the tournament, netted five in the third-fourth place match.
Mills, a recent addition to England’s under-21 squad, said: “We are so, so happy and we can’t believe it.
“For the past 27 years no English club had medalled and to be history makers is absolutely amazing.”
This was also the first time that East Grinstead, the English indoor champions, had reached this far in EuroHockey’s showpiece event.
Coach Theo Dowse said he was “ecstatic” as his side produced a superb performance from start to finish.
Dowse said: “We spoke about wanting to be ‘giants’ for the next generation to stand on our shoulders and we are so happy to be the giants today.”
East Grinstead had led Belgium’s Waterloo Ducks 2-1 in the semi-final before going down 4-2.
The Ducks met HC ’s-Hertogenbosch, who also had score three times in the final minutes to reach the final.
Waterloo Ducks became the first Belgian side to lift the trophy after beating the Dutch side 2-1 in a shoot-out.
Tournament top scorer Daphne Gose netted her 14th of the competition as the match finished 2-2 in normal time.
“It’s an amazing feeling” said the WatDucks Lia Hubin. “We came here and wanted to have fun and we did but, European champions… what can I say? We worked hard, having fun and it is just amazing.
