Ireland women won their first FIH Pro League match as they came from behind to oust hosts Australia 4-1 in Hobart.
Olivia Downes opened the scoring for the Hockeyroos before Ellen Curran and Katie Mullan netted before the break.
Sarah Hawkshaw and then Hannah McLoughlin secured the points in fine style as the Green Army win saw then move to sixth after eight matches.
Roisin Upton, player of the match, said: “I am phenomenally proud. This is an incredibly hard-working bunch here, and we’ve had a gang at home as well that really want to stay in the Pro League.
“It’s our first year here and we’ve been building since Dublin, so to get our first win at the tournament is fantastic.”
Victory will have given them huge confidence ahead of the FIH World Cup qualifiers.
Ireland are in a pool with Canada, Japan and Malaysia in Santiago, Chile in the March 1-8 event.
The Irish could face Australia, Chile, France or Switzerland in the semi-finals should they advance.
Meanwhile, Australia men beat Germany 3-2 to pick up their fourth succesive win.
In Rourkela, Argentina men ran out comfortable 4-2 winners over out-of-form India in a result that was kinder to the hosts than the balance of play suggested.
