Just in time for the festive season, Basingstoke HC received the best Christmas gift they could have hoped for: the green light to return to the upstairs area of their clubhouse.
After months of disruption following a fire in September, stepping back inside felt like a genuine milestone for the whole club.
The space instantly came alive again with the sound of team-mates catching up, parents sheltering from the weather, and juniors buzzing with excitement over hot food and a warm place to dry off.
Even though the changing rooms remain unavailable for now, simply having somewhere to gather, recharge and reconnect made the entire weekend feel different – like a small but powerful piece of normality was finally back in place.

Club chairman Danny Bowden said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have regained access to the upstairs area of the clubhouse, the timing couldn’t be more significant for us, celebrating both adult and childrens Christmas parties this weekend, as well as hosting U8 and U10 mini festivals for other clubs around the area.
“Having part of the building back means an enormous amount and marks a real milestone in our recovery. Being able to bring some of our social and community events back to life is a huge boost for the whole club.”
That sense of shared relief and renewed energy rippled throughout the weekend’s matches, reminding everyone just how much a clubhouse means to the club. Not just as a building, but as the beating heart of BHC.
