Germany men rubberstamped themselves as youth world-beaters after capturing an eight FIH Junior World Cup title.
They won a fifth title in the last seven editions as they defeated first-time finalists Spain in Chennai.
They took the lead in the 26th minute through Justus Warweg’s field goal. But Spain managed to breach the German fortress three minutes after half-time as Nicolas Mustaros helped his side draw level at 1-1.
Jasper Ditzer’s goalkeeping skills then delivered the goods in the shoot-out.
Ben Hasbach, with five goals, was also a tournament standout.
Two-time winners India defeated Argentina in the third-place match to finish on the podium with a bronze medal.

A dream comeback by PR Sreejesh’s side overturned a 0-2 deficit to score four goals in the last 15 minutes.
In a European duel, Belgium beat the Netherlands 4-3 in a shoot-out after a 3-3 normal time draw.
England finished ninth, despite winning five of six matches. Losing 5-3 to the Dutch in their opening game hampered progression.
Only the six pool winners qualified for the quarter-finals in the expanded 24-team event. The next best two teams also advanced, but England were out of the running.
