The 2025 ONE Active Hockey One League delivered two compelling championship deciders in Melbourne, with the Perth Thundersticks producing a stunning upset in the women’s competition and HC Melbourne securing a clinical victory in the men’s final.
Perth crowned one of the league’s great finals campaigns by toppling HC Melbourne 4–2 to clinch back-to-back women’s championships.
Entering the post season in fourth place, the Thundersticks gathered momentum with each outing before delivering their most complete performance in the grand final.
Madi Ratcliffe and Liné Malan were the architects of Perth’s triumph, each scoring twice in a display that combined incisive attack with disciplined defensive structure.
Perth’s ability to absorb pressure and strike on the counter proved decisive, repeatedly unsettling a Melbourne side that had entered the contest as favourites on home turf.
Aisling Utri scored both of Melbourne’s goals, keeping the hosts within reach, but the Thundersticks’ organisation and self-belief ultimately prevailed.

In the men’s final, HC Melbourne delivered on a season of consistency and control, defeating the Tassie Tigers 3–1 to secure consecutive championships.
Ky Willott led the scoring with a well-taken double, while Nathan Ephraums added a superb solo effort as Melbourne dictated tempo and maintained command during key periods of the match.
The Tigers fought to stay in the contest, and Sam McCulloch’s finish gave them a lifeline, but the hosts’ defensive stability and midfield poise ensured there would be no late surge.
The NSW Pride Men and Women have both secured third places on the final day of the Hockey One season, winning their respective medal matches in thrilling fashion.
The NSW Pride Women defeated Adelaide Fire 3-2, dramatically scoring the winning goal with just three seconds remaining on the clock after trailing for the entire game, while the NSW Pride Men thrashed Brisbane Blaze 10-4 in an emphatic reversal of their semi-final.
