India men qualified for the 2026 World Cup after beating Korea 4-1 to lift the Asian Cup in Rajgir.
Dilpreet Singh scored a double as India eased to victory and maintain their stranglehold amongst Asian rivals.
Malaysia, who were denied a final berth in the dying embers of their semi-final against Korea, finished third after seeing off China.
New Zealand women, who failed to qualify for Paris, beat Australia in the deciding Oceania Cup game to qualify for the women’s World Cup.
The game finished 1-1, with Jessie Anderson scoring seven minutes before the end for the Black Sticks, before the Kiwis won 5-3 on a shoot-out.
“The World Cup is so important for us, we didn’t qualify for Paris last year and I think this series has shown that fight, that resilience, that energy that we’ve had from not qualifying for Paris,” said captain Olivia Shannon after New Zealand’s victory.
Australia women will now enter the World Cup qualifiers in February.
Australia men proved a cut above New Zealand to prevail in the men’s tournament, winning all three matches.
The Kookaburras had already qualified for the World Cup which meant that New Zealand also staked their berth.
