I just try to lead by example, says Nicolas Keenan

Nicolas Keenan’s life as one of Argentina’s best players and one of the sport’s gay trailblazers has never been more tightly entwined than it has been this season.

The 27-year-old Los Leones star spoke candidly about the journey that took him from suburban Buenos Aires to the Dutch Hoofdklasse at 18, the nude calendar that has his Klein Zwitserland team raising eyebrows and funds for men’s mental-health charities, and the weight and privilege of being visible in a sport where openly gay male players remain rare.
