  1. When young players start out in adult games maybe umpires could be a bit more relaxed about shirt numbers?
Most of the these games are at a lowish level and it’s not as if the youngsters are going to be the ones attracting attention.
That way they can wear a plain tee shirt and see if they enjoy playing before shelling out on a club shirt.

  2. Hockey is only very expensive if your child is a goalkeeper (tell me about it) OR wants the newest kit every year, I cannot see how it costs £375 for a shirt, shorts and socks, plus shows and a stick! Unless you want the latest Carbon Fibre stick and Astro shows (which kids do not need, even at high level)

  3. Seriously…who did Clearpay poll?? Certainly not any parents whose kids play tennis, golf, skiing, horse riding, rock climbing, sailing, surfing, skateboarding, rowing, running, karate, fencing, or quite frankly any other sport (real world or digital!) under the sun I can think of…. Hockey has by far been the most cost effective sport I have put any of my children into….. Thank you HWHC for your continued support of young hockey players and making it a hugely accessible sport for city kids…. 450 pounds a year to learn to play a sport like hockey…that’s less than 10 pounds a week! Headline should read v.differently imho!
