The 2025 EuroHockey Championships will connect hockey and culture to highlight Mönchengladbach’s creative scene this summer.
Hockey meets Arts will see the city become a cultural centre for the tournament, combining the versatility of hockey with the local art scene.
Nina Holtgrewe, Director of Events at the German Hockey Association, said: “With Hockey x Arts, we want to use the power of sport to make Mönchengladbach’s culture visible in a unique way.
“It is important to us to promote the exchange between the various creative disciplines and to position the city as a cultural centre.”

The national body’s vision is to make EuroHockey 2025 an event that goes beyond sport and celebrates the cultural diversity and creativity of the region.
Other partners of Hockey x Arts will also be involved in the Fan Village, there will be a sustainability stand, school competitions and a choreography that addresses a wide variety of target groups such as people with disabilities, young people in youth facilities, professional dancers.
“We want to open doors and network groups with each other,” added Holtgrewe.
During the Euro Championship, visitors have the opportunity to take part in multilinguistic tours of the Museum Abteiberg and the archive and get to know the history and art scene of the city better.

In a creative exchange, hockey players and ballet dancers will also have the opportunity to try out each other’s disciplines and learn from each other.
