Has there ever been a relegation run-in like it in any England Hockey league?
Seven men’s sides face the drop from the London Men’s Premier Division, with just four points separating them in a season which could see three clubs relegated.
With two games left and Southgate 2s having long won the title with a 16-point lead, the story is at the bottom.
Or mid-table downwards to be precise, with sixth placed Tulse Hill and Dulwich on 24 points and nervously looking over their shoulders with six other teams separated by four points, including basement side West Hampstead on 20 points.
Tulse Hill and West Hampstead face each other on the final match of the season on April 5, but where they will be in the league come Monday is anyone’s guess.

The seven teams’ battle for survival is heightened by the fact that three teams may be relegated this season from the London Premier Division.
It is understood that this may occur should two teams come down into the London area from the Conference East.
At the top, Southgate are 16 points clear of London Edwardians, the former having won 17 of their 20 matches on their way to the league title.
Of all the England Hockey leagues, the closest any division comes to the capital drama is in Yorks and NE Women’s Division 1, where the bottom five are separated by three points.
