Australian hockey continues to push for the 2032 Olympic competition to be moved from Brisbane to the Gold Coast venue which staged the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The current plan has hockey being played at Ballymore on drop-in pitches, but this decision is at odds with hockey’s authorities who state that the idea falls short of being a legacy venue.
The Gold Coast hockey venue in Labrador, say hockey chiefs, is a more viable and legacy-lasting option, with the sport also wanting to stage the 2030 Hockey World Cup there before the 2032 Olympics take place.
