‘There needs to be more creativity around penalty corners in hockey’

Short corner specialist Calum Giles reflects on the penalty corner in modern hockey

I watched the EuroHockey a few years ago and I remember just tearing my hair out watching dragflickers just flick it in straight lines at blockers. 

People are saying that the corner defence has got better — and it has. They’ve got masks. They’re a bit braver. They’re running two people down the line. But I’m thinking, ‘if you’re running two people down the line, there’s more space.’
