After life-changing auction, David Harte is relishing Hockey India League

David Harte was on childminding duties when the foreign goalkeepers were put under the hammer for the Hockey India League, which resumes after seven years this weekend.

It took a call from the Cork stopper’s father to tell him but Harte just missed the bidding war as he logged on to the livestream. In the end, he became the most expensive international ‘keeper, Tamil Nadu Dragons snapping him up for 32 lakhs, around 35,000 euros.

It was an eye-opening number for the 36-year-old, who will be with the franchise for the next three years.
