Channel 4 says it will be broadcasting ‘one of the world’s most exciting sports’ to a wider UK audience following a three-year deal with England Hockey to show FIH Pro League matches.
Matches will initially stream on Channel 4 Sport’s YouTube channel, with additional coverage on its digital platforms.
The deal will run until 2027 and will make top-tier international hockey action free to audiences across the UK.
As UK rights holders, C4 will have exclusivity and means TNT Sports will not broadcast England’s matches. As it stands, non-England matches can’t be viewed in the UK as the FIH have yet to announce changes after shutting watch.hockey.
England will stage the London leg of the Pro League in mid June. It is not known at this stage whether C4 will screen live matches on its main channel next summer.

England Hockey noted in a release on Friday that the deal is perfect timing ahead of the EuroHockey Champs next summer. This could lead to C4 taking additional coverage as broadcast rights holders.
Coverage will begin on Sunday when a youthful England women play China.
