England set for new faces in Hockey Pro League

England are set to see a number of debut caps in the upcoming FIH Pro League after the long list squads were revealed.

England women, with several internationals taking time out after Paris 2024, have a plethora of new faces trialling this autumn in their Bisham Abbey programme.

Sofia Martin, Becky Manton, goalkeeper Mila Welch, Georgie Gardens, Millie Giglio, Beth Alexander, Paige Gillott, Hannah Boss, Meg Crowson, Abbie Dixon, Alice Atkinson, goalkeeper Evie Wood, Lottie Bingham, the youngest at 18, and Rose Hope all have no senior caps.

Pippa Lock, Katie Curtis and Lorna Mackenzie have five caps between them in recent seasons.

Jacob Payton, who moved to Surbiton this season from Exeter Uni, has been included in the 26-strong provisional men’s squad after being invited to the senior programme, another stepping up from Jon Bleby’s junior cohort.

The 22-year-old forward has yet to make an international start across England or GB. He has previously competed in last year’s Sultan of Johor and 4 Nations tournaments.

Henry Croft has enjoyed another stellar season for Beeston PIC: THP

Beeston forward Henry Croft could make his senior debut abroad after his GB debut last summer in two London Pro League matches. Rohan Bhuhi, with five GB games under his belt, is also in coach Zak Jones’ squad.

England Hockey have yet to announce a full-time coach for the men’s squad after Paul Revington stepped down.

England and GB Hockey are also on the search for a performance director after Danny Kerry left the role before starting.
