Amit Rohidas: My Olympic Games red card was gross injustice

Amit Rohidas says his red card in the Paris Olympic hockey quarter-final was a “gross injustice” in India’s rearguard win over Great Britain men.

Rohidas’ red card was only the fourth issued at elite level since 2013. The Indian No.1 runner was sent off with over 40 minutes remaining and was suspended for the semi-final before returning for their bronze medal win.

“Gross injustice was meted out to me,” said Rohidas, who made his 200th cap in the recent Test series against Germany.

  1. He knew exactly what he was doing when he tried making the tackle.
    Coming in from that position and angle you are always risking a bad tackle along with being seen as breaking down play.

  2. You have got to be kidding he lifted the stick into Calnans face with a completely unnatural action / red card all day long

  3. Football outlawed the tackle from behind, hockey put it in. The spectacle of Football has improved as a result.
    Calnan should not even be allowed to attempt a tackle from here, it frustrates skilful players and breaks the game down (10 minute yellow) BUT you don’t anyone with a stick this is assault.
