Nick and Emma Bandurak, ousted this month at Holcombe HC, have both joined East Grinstead as they look to put a difficult start to the domestic hockey season behind them.
The Banduraks have crossed borders from Kent to West Sussex after Bandurak was sacked from the men’s team following a reported rift with coach Kwan Browne and then from his head coach role with Holcombe women.
Wife Emma plays for Holcombe women and she also left the club, leaving the couple without hockey. Nick is still in the GB men’s set up, where Browne is also a forwards and assistant coach.
However East Grinstead stepped in and announced the signings on Friday.

“It’s been a bit of a crazy year on the whole so to find a home that’s welcomed us, as EG have, has really meant the world,” said Nick, who was signed by Kalinga Lancers in the upcoming Hockey India League on the day he left Holcombe.
“Being a part of a family-based club was essential to our thought process for finding a new home,” the couple added.
“EG has carried that reputation for a long time and to see it in action through the past couple of weeks has given us huge comfort.
“Both sides carry a lot of potential for this season and beyond and we’re excited to contribute in whatever way we can to that.”
Nick said he was also calling a “truce” with East Grinstead’s ‘Faithful’ supporters group. “I’m very thankful to be having them on my side for a change,” he joked.
Good luck to you both. Enjoy your hockey.
