Hockey India League: Franchises seal first women’s squads as spending ends

A third and final day of Hockey India League (HIL) auction action saw Indian players again top the bidding and several world stars fail to accrue a lucrative month’s earnings ahead of the inaugural women’s HIL in late December.

There was also some confusion around an array of senior India players failing to attract their base value, while it has been understood that some overseas players who were acquired at base price may even turn down offers to participate.
