‘I don’t like wasting time as a hockey coach – it’s a selfless element’

To the widespread shock of the hockey community, Paul Revington resigned as head coach of GB and England this month.

Revington led GB to second in the world rankings, a silver medal at the 2023 EuroHockey and the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics.

In the second part of our exclusive interview, the South African explains his decision to step down.

Q: How do you reflect on your time as the head coach of GB and England Hockey? 

A: I’m very happy with the speed at which we took the programme and the group of players from A to B, which was taking a very talented group that had done well in the previous cycle charging up the world rankings with a style of hockey that everyone was proud of. The absolute cherry on the top would have been playing in two more games at the Olympics but that wasn’t to be. I’m pretty happy that I did what I set out to do.
