And hockey is in danger of being axed from the 2026 event – a period which also includes the World Cup and Asian Games – after making its debut in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur.

Hockey is a grass roots and accessible sport. If Scotland care about childhood obesity they would do everything they can to promote a child friendly inclusive sport such as hockey. To leave it out would be a travesty.

Presuming that the current Glasgow facility, from the previous Commonwealth games doesn’t need an upgrade, why would this be the case?
And if the pitches do need an upgrade, this would surely be like to killing two birds with one stone.
