Danny Kerry left his GB Hockey performance director role before starting after players were left “blindsided” by the appointment, according to a media report.
Kerry was announced as the PD in June and was due to start his position for the LA Olympic cycle. A story in The Telegraph revealed that both squads sent a letter to GB Hockey, where they expressed “extreme disappointment” in the appointment
In a statement, 48 days later, GB Hockey said he would no longer take up the role “due to personal reasons”.

Surprised the GB players weren’t consulted and their response to it speaks volumes. Perhaps more of a bottom up policy would be better for player moral in the future. GB men have been playing really well since the World Cup and are as good as any team in the world at the moment. All the top teams are so close to each other. India have come on tremendously this last year and on another day GB could have gone on to win the gold.
