Paris Olympics Hockey: India lodge complaint on video umpiring, iPad after GB defeat

Paris — GB men’s coach Paul Revington said the iPad which was confiscated by an Olympic tournament official during their quarter-final shoot-out defeat was used as a digital notepad for goalkeeper Ollie Payne, not for any video analysis.

During the shoot-out, India were forced to wait as Australian official Josh Burt came down the touchline to take Team GB’s device which was placed where Payne stood. Team manager Paul Gannon remonstrated over the decision but without success.

It came after GB had gone 2-1 up and left Sujit waiting for several moments. TV also caught several Indian shoot-out players laughing over the episode.

    • How does modifying a complaint against a team indulging in malpractice make India “poor winners”? Rules are meant to be followed and if a team finds irregularities, it’s well within its right to lodge a complaint. Great Britain should probably try not to act too smart and pull off cheap tactics.
