Paris Olympics Hockey: Sophie Hamilton labelled as Team GB ‘star’

Tess Howard hailed Sophie Hamilton as one of the world’s best when in flow as Team GB women qualified for the Olympic knock-out stages.

Hamilton was instrumental in Great Britain’s 5-2 win over USA on Thursday, which sets up an enticing encounter with Argentina on Saturday. A win will give them the opportunity to avoid finishing fourth, depending on Spain’s result against Australia.

“Sophie Hamilton. What a star, she’s brilliant. When she plays with flow she’s probably among the world’s best,” said Howard. “She’s a really key player for us and I’m so proud of the way she played today so I hope we can keep giving her the opportunities to be her best self.”
