‘We gave it everything’: Ireland men’s Olympic dream ends to Argentina

Argentina were indebted to their goalkeeper Tomas Santiago, who padded, blocked, gloved and stick saved his side towards the knock-out stages following a 2-1 win over Ireland.

A fourth successive defeat ended the Green Machine’s dream of an Olympic quarter-final berth. It took two penalty corner goals to thwart an otherwise effective defensive performance.
