‘Hockey 5s could be additional Olympics sport with 11-a-side’

World hockey has reiterated its stance that Hockey 5s isn’t a threat to the 11-a-side format — with the added strapline that both formats could one day be on the Olympic programme.

In a wide-ranging interview, FIH president Tayab Ikram discussed the sport’s Olympic future, how Hockey 5s is going nowhere and why the world governing body is in no rush to announce a CEO.

Ikram said: “Moving forward, this is not a threat to Hockey 11s. It can be an additional thing at some point.
