Paris — French men’s hockey was in a state of flux two years out from the biggest stage of their careers.
A dose of musical chairs in hockey coaching held sway after Tokyo when Fred Soyez left Spain to coach France and Jeroen Delmee, who had given impetus to the men’s side, exited Les Bleus for the Dutch job.
The regarded Xavier De Greve was No.2 but was, according to reports, fired by Soyez following a difference of opinions. Well regarded within the camp, he was thought to be “too close to the players”.
