Dutch hockey goalkeeping specialist Martijn Drijver on the importance of ball focus and how he helped shape Maddie Hinch’s career

A player needs to find the right setting in balance and to be focused 100 per cent on the direction, height and speed of the ball.

This can be done twice per week and every time there is a variation in exercise: PCs, shots or using different coloured balls.

On all my hockey balls I have a black spot with a black line round the ball.
