Hockey Pro League has been significant for us – Ireland coach

It would have been inconceivable to think that Ireland would be playing three Olympic favourites in a row so close to Paris a few years ago. Yet, their Pro League debut campaign has handed them that luxury and they continue to learn physical and pitch learnings as Mark Tumilty attempts to find his best 16.

They endured a trying weekend at Lee Valley in losing 5-1 to GB and 7-0 to Germany on Sunday. They remain bottom of the Pro League and relegation looms, but their growing Test experience is what’s counting most.
