Kate Richardson-Walsh breaks ‘old boys’ network’ with Canada women role

Exclusive: GB Hockey great speaks to THP on Canada women, Olympic hopes and raising the barrier for women coaches

Kate Richardson-Walsh says that breaking into the ‘old boys’ network’ is a major boost in a modern climate where few women coach at international level.

Richardson-Walsh, 43, was recently announced as assistant coach to Danny Kerry with Field Hockey Canada’s women’s team as they attempt to reach the Paris 2024 Olympics. It will see the pair reunited from their coach-captaincy golden success from Rio 2016.
