Secret Coach: A weekend observing the Euro Hockey League

Umpire positioning, the aerial ball, EHL player welfare and end-to-end matches. Our coach has his say from Wagener Stadium experiences

City of diamonds, canals, bikes, and I am guessing more artificial hockey surfaces than any other city in the world. It was a joyous week observing the Euro Hockey League – the sport’s greatest club competition for men, women and juniors. The hospitality was fantastic, the hockey outstanding and the weather, for the most part, was warm.

It’s nice to come to one of these big tournaments and have nothing to do but watch. The ability to put a hat on and sit at the back of the stand, just watching and observing, using one’s eyes and ears as information gatherers.
