European clubs alliance to host first junior club event alongside Euro Hockey League

Junior sides from four top European nations – Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium – will compete in the first edition of the EHCO Trophy in April.

The four under-19 men’s and women’s champion clubs from these top-ranked European countries will effectively compete to become continental champions.

The mini tournament will run alongside the Euro Hockey League and will be held in Amstelveen from April 7-9.

The European Association of Hockey Clubs (EHCO) was launched in 2021 to protect continental club hockey.

Some of Europe’s top hockey clubs from five nations joined forces to form an international alliance to protect its continental domestic league structure, the Euro Hockey League and the 11 v 11 traditional format.

The European hockey clubs have since organised themselves in an international alliance in order to jointly safeguard the national leagues with a minimum of 25 weekends, the future of the EHL together with EHF, the format of hockey 11s and indoor hockey, as well as the generation of club-based talented players.

Next month, four U19 men’s and women’s will play each other over a weekend. Organisers hope to expand the competition to eight clubs, also including an under 17 category, for next year.

The boys teams are Harvesthuder, CD Terrassa, AHBC and Royal Oree. The women’s sides are Bremer HC, Junior FCV, SCHC and Royal Oree.

  1. The EHL also organise an u14 event for both Girls and Boys – Surbiton HC will be there again this year after very successful outings there in 2022. Well worth covering – the EHL is an amazing event for all.
