‘We can do more as a sport to encourage people to come to hockey clubs’

Over the summer, anger ensued when children playing cricket on a public space in Lancashire were moved aside by officials for a local football team.

Families complained to their local MP in Blackburn, despite the area being taken over by the football team from the council three years prior. Parents said their kids were playing cricket ‘informally’, while politicians believed that the football club weren’t adhering to a promise of continued access of public space when the Blackburn team took over.
