Dave Clark has scored goals ever since he picked up a hockey stick as a child. Across a 30-year playing career, the hotshot striker has now amassed over 400 goals in the southern leagues and 52 hat-tricks.
Clark, 42, passed that milestone in 2020 in bizarre circumstances that involved a local library, hours of research during Covid-19 lockdowns and a low-key celebration.
He hascored all of his goals playing for Banbury where he is now club captain and achieved the tally around the same time as another South League veteran, Prabjot Hunjan.
The goal wizard told The Hockey Paper: “A lot of goals that you scored in the 90s weren’t recorded anywhere other than perhaps a database for a club or in the local newspaper and they weren’t on the South league’s website.
