East Grinstead add to Premier Division all-female coaching stable

East Grinstead will become the second all-women coaching team in the Premier Division following the appointment of Cath Nicholson and Bridget Blackwood for the 2022/23 England Hockey season.

Nicholson, a former England international with over 60 caps, and former Kiwi international Blackwood join as they step up from playing at Saint Hill. They follow Sarah Kelleher and Kate Richardson-Walsh as Hampstead & Westminster’s coaches, with Helen Richardson-Walsh now joining as asssitant coach for the first time this season in a further boost.

“Kate messaged us saying that she was so pleased we were doing it as we need more females involved,” Nicholson, head of hockey at Sevenoaks School, told The Hockey Paper ahead of their season opener against University of Birmingham on Saturday.
