The European Hockey Federation has beefed up its media department, with Stephen Findlater joining as a full-time communications manager with responsibility for EuroHockey events, Euro Hockey League, and Media.
Findlater joins the EHF having worked in sports journalism and a wide breadth of hockey media roles for the past 15 years and is well known in EuroHockey press rooms. He has been the Euro Hockey League’s media officer since 2014, helping create the look, feel, and the story of the world’s premier club hockey competition.
Prior to that, he was part of the media team for the FIH at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and has performed similar duties at numerous other European and world-level events.
In his native Ireland, he has been the authoritative voice for the sport, working on a freelance basis with the Irish Examiner and Irish Times, focusing extensively on the local club game as well as reporting on the international teams’ progress on the world stage. He is also the founder of The Hook which was Irish hockey’s go-to news website.
“I am thrilled to start working with the EHF on a full-time basis,” he says of the new position. “I have really enjoyed working in conjunction with the EHF in the past; the organisation is a really progressive promoter of outdoor and indoor hockey and I look forward to helping spread that story in a dynamic way to our members and new audiences.”
Angus Kirkland, DG of the EHF added “We have been working with Stephen over the past number of years, both in his role as Communications Manager for EHL and from time to time he has supported us at our top level events. We are delighted to welcome Stephen full-time to the EHF team as we work to deliver our strategy for the coming years. We are all looking forward to having him as a core member of our small team.”
Siobhán Madeley will now focus on EuroHockey events, Media, and Public Relations.
