Commonwealth Games Hockey: ‘Watching Wales at the Gold Coast Games was inspirational’

Four years ago, Olivia Hoskins watched Wales women defeat India in at Gold Coast 2018 on TV, writes George Wilson. 

Now she is ready take Birmingham 2022 by storm after being inspired by that Welsh performance down under and qualifying to play through residency. 

Hoskins, of Clifton Robinsons, went through the England training set up as a teenager before going to university in Cardiff where she was poached by Wales.

Hoskins said: ‘It was the best decision I made to say yes to playing for Wales. I went to university at Cardiff metropolitan, I was there for three years, and I got approached to see if I wanted to join the Wales squad.
